Sustainable Futures Short Story Competition

Based around the topic of 'Sustainable Futures', the Royal Mint Museum hosted a short story competition open to all age 8 - 11 children in the United Kingdom. Pupils were asked to write a creative short story of no more than 500 words on the theme.

The winning entry was written by 8-year-old Myra Saindane. Myra’s story ‘Myra’s Green Awakening’ follows a girl who embarks on a sustainability mission. 

The winning stories were chosen by guest judge, presenter and broadcaster, Michaela Strachan. As part of her prize, Myra's story was illustrated by guest artist Bronwen James.

Myra also won a set of coins for herself and £5,000 worth of equipment and books for her school library.
