BERTIE THE WATER BOTTLE

Bertie was a water bottle, but not just any water bottle! He had seen the world, been to many different places, been in many people’s hands and lived a great life. All thanks to a little something called recycling!

Bertie went to a music concert once. He saw the best band sing their best songs and was having a great time, being held by his owner, when suddenly, he was thrown up into the air, and into a dark black bag. He didn’t know what was happening, and he was worried. He slept there all night, wondering what would happen next, when the bag moved, and they were thrown into a big rubbish truck! He was with lots of his bottle friends, so he wasn’t alone, and he was so tired he shut his eyes to have a sleep.

He must have been tired, he slept for ages!

So much went on whilst he was asleep. Then one day, Bertie opened his eyes and found himself in the bright sunshine. He was at a football match! With the help of recycling, he had been turned into a plastic cup! He had a tummy full of orange juice and was in the hand of a boy called Ethan, who happened to be watching the mighty Wycombe Wanderers won the league! What a great day, what a celebration, all thanks to the efforts of recycling! But then, Ethan tidies up when the game was over and put Bertie into that big black bag again, and Bertie knew what might happen next!

Bertie shut his eyes, and went into another deep sleep…

Then one day, Bertie opened his eyes to some bright sunshine! It was summer! All of a sudden Bertie was tipped up and some cold water fell out and waters the plants, he was a watering can! He looked around and saw a young boy holding the handle and having lots of fun, everyone loved to water plants, and Bertie would be loved once again.

Bertie stayed at the house for a long time, but was left out one year in the cold, snowy winter, and there was a crack in the watering can. Bertie knew his time here was over and he was now slightly excited about where he would end up next! He was thrown into the blue recycling bin, with lots of other materials, and said goodnight once more, and fell fast asleep…

Before he knew it, it was Christmas! Everyone loves Christmas! Bertie opened his eyes and it was still quite dark. He waited patiently until her was picked up, the paper was ripped off and Bertie saw the twinkling of Christmas lights, he had come back as part of a little plastic children’s bike! The child was so excited, he said the present was the best present ever and he would never let him go!

Bertie was very happy, he was loved once again.
