Great Seal of Charles II
Even though Thomas Simon was so closely associated with the both the Commonwealth and Oliver Cromwell, he somehow still managed to gain work with the newly restored King Charles II. One of his pieces during this period was to add to his prodigious output of seals by producing this impressive Great Seal of Charles II. It is a return to the style of Great Seals used before the Commonwealth, depicting an majestic portrait of an enthroned Charles II on the obverse and a vibrant equestrian portrait on the reverse.
