Coin Lesson Plan - Maths

In this lesson pupils investigate coins through mathematics. Size, shape and weight are three significant elements of coin design, and it is very important to get them right so that coins are easy for people to use.

Lesson Objectives

Pupils will:

  • Investigate UK coins using mathematics
  • Understand why diameter, weight and shape are so important for coin design
  • Measure and record accurately
  • Be able to draw accurate conclusions from their results
